It’s Veteran’s Day! So let me start by saying thank you to all the men and women that have bravely served and are currently serving in the U.S. military.
In one of my classes today, a classmate did a presentation about Veterans and their homecomings. Rural communities should be proud because more than 40% of military recruits come from rural areas. These communities can also be some of the most supportive when servicemen and women come home.
I can think of more than one occasion during my elementary and high school days when a local soldier would come into our classroom to share what they do or an older sibling would come home for a surprise reunion. Veteran’s day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and any number of other holidays were full of writing and decorating cards and letters to send to troops overseas.
Thank you to those who have served, those who are serving, and those who will continue to keep America safe in the future. Thank you to the rural communities who sacrifice and support their loved ones. It is because of these people that I have the opportunities that I do. So once again, THANK YOU!
